Dubai has pioneered the use of modern technology and renewable energy sources in many areas of the economy. Emirati Pride officials are making similar moves in public transportation.

The city is developing a program to implement two more new futuristic transportation systems. The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the implementation of two projects in the coming five-year period. These will include unmanned rail buses and high-speed, unmanned, solar-powered travel capsules.

Dubai-based RTA is working with the world’s top engineers and innovative experts in travel, technology, artificial intelligence and renewables to develop automated transportation networks, according to the Eco-City plan. The companies involved are Urban-Mass Company, based in the UK, and RAIL BUS Inc. based in the US.

Unmanned rail buses and high-speed, unmanned, solar-powered travel pods will join projects already being implemented: autonomous cars, electric smart boats and flying cabs.

All the projects together create a city of the future whose public transportation is fully automated and relies solely on renewable energy.
